The «Genoese helmet» started in Sudak

In the morning on July, 19 the Sudak Genoese fortress was «taken» by knights, artisans and actors. They all are participants of the VIII international knight's festival «The Genoese helmet». As organizers reported to «Kafa» the show-program would last to August, 17. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday the visitors of fortress will see knight's tournaments, mass raising battle of «Bugurt and assault of fortress» (11.00 and 18.00), model firings of «medieval artillery», and also concert programs of collectives, carrying out dances, songs and pieces of music of dark ages. - Any visitor will be able to become the participant of action when visiting the city of masters or shooting-gallery of archers or arbalests, - explain young people, dressed in medieval clothes stnding at the entarence into the fortress. The cost of a ticket into the fortress in days of the festival is 80 Uah for grown-ups, and 40 Uah for children. Visitors are branded at the entrance, putting an ink spot on hands, shoulders or other place which a spectator is ready to give. In the town of masters all wishing are taught the art of ancient handicrafts and folk trades. In the area of «medieval entertainments» it is possible not only to look after the battles of knights, throwing logs, axes and daggers, but to make an attempt do some shooting from an arbalest or bow. The chairman of the Simferopol federation of the historical fencing Paul Shparevich reported to «Kafa» that this year 450 persons took part in the show-program, from them 250 knights are masters of fencing, and others are folk skilled craftsmen and walking gentlemen in suits. - The «Genoese helmet» collected fencers from ten countries, - specified P. Shparevich. – Various competitions and contests go from 9 a.m., from 13.00 to 16.00 we tell about knights and traditions of dark ages, and from 16.00 to 20.00 mass presentations, costumed processions and concert programs pass.
